Midlife Tasks Us With Responsibility
As I move through my 50s, I am starting to understand that midlife’s job is to task us with the responsibility of taking one life experience and, as our true selves, bringing meaning to it so we can make the world a better place.
Until we take the responsibility given to us by midlife, it feels as though we are living in a snow globe, a tiny world we are contained in and consumed by until we break through the glass and start living outside of ourselves.
If we do not take on the responsibility that midlife is giving us, life will start shaking our tiny world lightly so that we will feel unease. If we still don’t take action, it shakes harder, so we feel the urgency of this important moment, not only because midlife is begging you to break out so you can lead yourself and others with purpose but because it is desperate for you to see your vibrant, true self again.
