January is named after Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and endings. Janus presided over doors and gates, which feels appropriate for the new year. He is often depicted with two faces – one looking forward and the other looking backward.

To sustainably move into something new we must do it with clarity of the meaningful impact in our past.

If you are making the decision to do something new this year, the reason for the need for something new, through the lens of purpose, is to reclaim what is old and can’t be altered about ourselves we have forgotten, who we are authentically making meaningful impact.
